Chronic suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM), characterized by a perforation in the eardrum and hearing loss, is a debilitating disease. It is surgically treatable and preventable and yet the rates in South Africa remain amongst the highest in the world. Endoscopic Ear surgery is increasingly popular and offers excellent patient outcomes. It was a privilege to host this training to specialists and registrars from around the country, knowing that it will improving access to essential ear surgery with a reduction bottle-necking of demand to central services.
Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to put this together.
